I’m Kirsten.
I’m a portrait photographer based in San Pedro, working the coast from Cabrillo up through Palos Verdes and out across the South Bay.
My work is warm and film-toned — grain, soft contrast, that gold the bluffs throw off in the last hour before sunset. I want your photos to feel like a memory rather than an advertisement. Nobody’s chin at an assigned angle.
Sessions look like this: we meet somewhere that means something to you — a beach you’ve been going to for years, the trail above your house, your own kitchen. I ask you to do something ordinary. I give a nudge when things stall. Mostly I just shoot.
Most people tell me afterward that they forgot I was there. That’s the whole job.
Barely any posing
I’ll prompt you (walk that way, tell her the story) then get out of it. You’ll forget I’m there within twenty minutes. Everyone does.
Golden hour, nearly always
The last ninety minutes before sunset on this coast is the reason my work looks like it does. I schedule around it and I don’t really compromise on it.
You get the whole story
Not just the ten pretty ones. The in-between frames are usually what families end up printing large.
